A New Direction
I don’t know about you, but there are times when I go somewhere and it becomes the start of a new direction. I met an AI Engineer at a pet rescue event my husband and I went to. Later, he invited me to join a networking group. I signed up to give a short talk and built a website people could go to after the talk. Then the website grew. After that, I volunteered to give a talk about Local SEO. Then I was asked to give a presentation on Sales Without Being Pushy instead.
While I was preparing for my talk, I started writing the workbook, Sales Without Being Pushy. Then a whole lot of new things started happening, followed by more stuff that came together and here we are: talking about sales, the workbook, and what I hope to accomplish by doing all this. If you had told me before this all started that I would be in this position, I would have looked at you funny. But I’m the type of person that gets an idea and takes action on it.
I talked to well over 50,000 business owners in my career doing internet marketing sales. I have a heart for small business owners and service professionals. They’re so brave, really smart, and do some incredible things for the people around them. I fell in love with how amazing people are when I was on sales calls. Not everyone was terrific to talk to but that didn’t change my overall impression.
What struck me was the tenacity small business owners have to keep going and keep trying. The established ones didn’t give up. I heard stories of successes, unexpected circumstances that really messed things up, fun times, hard times, disappointments, accomplishments, and milestones. They were so inspiring to me. I really wanted to help them all do well with their marketing. It was so important for their marketing to work.
The idea I got when I was working on the slides for my presentation was that my approach to sales might help people who have a hard time doing sales. I think sales can be misunderstood. I think the pressure to sell can distort how people deal with each other in sales scenarios. There are a lot of great sales courses and books, but knowledge alone doesn’t always move the needle to success.
My hope in publishing this workbook is to make sales simple to understand and do in real life. My approach to sales is different from what a lot of sales training programs have taught. I was introduced to sales training when I was about 4 years into doing internet marketing sales and was an established top-performing sales closer. I learned quite a bit. But most of it didn’t fit how I liked to sell and what I was doing got results month over month, year over year.
If you are interested in a different approach to sales, you’ll probably like my workbook. It shares stories from my life, about my first sales lesson when I was eight years old, flying airplanes with my dad, getting a BA in Political Science, being a singer-songwriter, recovering from a life changing injury, getting certified in mediation, and more. My hope is that after going through the workbook you’ll enjoy sales more and get better results using the sales system you'll write for your business.
If you'd like to have a sales system based on your own experiences, values, and the way you naturally want to do business, I hope you'll take a look at Sales Without Being Pushy. The workbook is available on Amazon.
As a thank you, when your workbook arrives, email me a picture of you holding it and I'll send you an exclusive Bonus Sales Lesson. You'll find all the details on the Sales Without Being Pushy page of my website.
